If you know Nicholas Brendon, then chances are you probably remember his role as Xander Harris on the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Recently, Brendon has fallen on some hard times and has more than once appeared in the news for being thrown out of a convention for being drunk and disorderly. In fact, it was earlier this year in March that he had his latest arrest where police were called to his hotel room in Tallahassee, Florida at ALTCon. According to the reports, Brendon had called 911 claiming his wallet and phone had been stolen. When police arrived they found the toilet overflowing, the furniture had been flipped over and the phone was pulled out of the wall. According to the hotel staff, Brendon had been mixing pills and alcohol earlier that day.

He recently tried to sober up and confront his addiction by appearing on the Dr. Phil Show. During the interview, the actor revealed that he had been molested as a child. He also revealed that he had gotten drunk the night before the show and even Dr. Phil couldn’t help but comment on the fact that he could still smell the alcohol on him. The interview didn’t last long, as just when it was beginning to ramp up, Brendon walked off the stage.

Following his walk out, Brendon posted on social media his unhappiness with the show and how Dr. Phil had some harsh words for his mother for not getting the treatment he needed as a child and as an alcoholic. He claims that he is currently sober and his seeking treatment and has so far made several convention appearances without incident.

“I’ve done several conventions since walking away and have had no problems with fans or the law since. Hoping to continue the trend. It’s been nice. I always have and always will take full responsibility for my actions. I will also defend my loved ones. I am grateful for the support of my family, girlfriend and my wonderful fans. By no means am I a perfect person, but I am also not the monster as portrayed by this show.

I am actively participating in treatment and remaining positive in the light of negativity. It will remain my goal to one day obtain the clarity and clearness of spirit that Dr. Phil demonstrates daily. I commend those living with depression, alcoholism, the kicker that is dual diagnosis and are brave enough to speak out and ask for help. You guys are my heroes.”
